Sino Gas & Energy Pty Ltd. (SGE) was registered in Perth, Australia in July 2005. SGE specializes in tight gas and coalbed methane (CBM) exploration and development. The company was registered and approved by the State Administration of Industry and Commerce Bureau in July 2006. SGE is wholly owned by US-based Lone Star Funds and focuses on CBM and natural gas exploration, production, and development in China.
SGE signed two Production Sharing Contracts (PSC) with China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (Sinopec), and China United Coalbed Methane Corporation Ltd. (CUCBM) (wholly owned by China National Offshore Oil Corporation) to develop natural gas and CBM in Lin County and Xing County in Lvliang City, Shanxi Province, respectively.
The Overall Development Plan (ODP) of the SJB project developed in partnership with China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and China Petroleum and Chemical Corporation (Sinopec),has been reviewed by CNPC. and filed with the National Energy Administration in September 2019. The project has an initial production capacity of 300 million cubic meters per year
The reserve reports for the LXW and LXE projects developed in partnership with CUCBM has been approved by Ministry of Natural Resources . The projects have an initial production capacity of 1.1 billion cubic meters per year in Block A (LXW) and an initial production capacity of 300 million cubic meters per year in Block B (LWE). The Overall Development Plan (ODP) for LX project has been filed with National Energy Administration in Feb. 2021.The SJB Project, LXW Project, and LXE Project are among the top 10 key oil & gas projects in Shanxi Province
While striving to increase reserves and production, SGE is focused on building sustainable relationships with local communities, and actively participates in local poverty alleviation programs such as drilling for water wells, constructing a library, etc. SGE donated RMB 1 million for the education of children from local poverty stricken and martyrs’ families in August 2019, In December 2020, SGE in partnership with YouChange China Social Entrepreneur Foundation launched the “Seeding Future” Education Development Program. The program aims to provide 200 teachers in Lin County and Xing County with online and offline training programs, to enable more children in poverty-stricken areas receive better education and enhance local social development.
